Your questions, answered

My child has never played cricket. Is that OK?
Yes. Our Rising stage is built for beginners of any age, and we provide bats and balls.
What age can my child start?
Any age from 6 to 17. The coach places your child by skill after the free evaluation, so an older beginner starts at the right level and a younger player with experience is not held back.
What happens at the evaluation?
15 to 25 minutes of batting, bowling and fielding while a coach watches. Then the coach sits down with you, explains where your child is today, and you choose a class time together. It is free and there is no obligation.
Is it safe?
Every class has a coach and an assistant coach, and our coaches are background-checked. Batters wear helmets against the hard ball, and any suspected head injury means the player sits out and we call you.
What ball do you use?
The early stages use a soft ball, so no pads or helmet are needed. Players move to the leather ball and the bowling machine only when they are ready, always with full protective kit, and we tell you before that happens.
What should we bring?
Sports clothes, clean indoor shoes and a water bottle. Bring your own bat and kit if you have them; if not, we provide bats and balls.
What if the class times don't suit us?
New class times are opening soon. Tell us the day and time that would work and we will let you know as soon as a batch opens.
Do brothers and sisters get a discount?
Yes: 50% off the registration fee for each brother or sister. Book them together and they are evaluated in the same session.
How does billing work?
$35 per class, billed on the 1st of each month for that month's class dates. Pay by bank account or card with automatic monthly payment, or by Venmo or Zelle if you prefer.
Can my child train twice a week?
Yes, when there is space in a class at the same stage on another day, at the same price per class.
What happens if we miss a class?
We offer a make-up class at the same level in the same or the next month, when a place is free.
Can we cancel?
Yes, any time, by emailing us. Classes more than 14 days after your email are refunded or credited, and there are no long contracts.
How will I know my child is improving?
A short update from the coach every month, skill badges as they earn them, and a written report with a short video at the end of every term.
Do you offer private coaching?
Yes. Focused coaching for a group of up to four: Saturdays 1:00 to 2:00 pm or 2:00 to 3:00 pm, $35 per player a session. Ask us for a place.
Where are classes held?
Reputation Athletics Field House, 9 Gerber Blvd, Vernon, CT 06066.
Can this lead to competitive cricket?
It can be a start. In the US, young players move on through club teams and regional age-group trials run by USA Cricket and local leagues. We teach the skills and the match sense those need, and we will tell you honestly when your child is ready to try. We do not promise selections.
What will my child get from cricket besides the sport?
Teamwork, clear communication, decision-making, resilience and focus, learned in real match moments rather than lectures. The coach reports on them every term in a "Beyond the boundary" section.
Can girls join?
Absolutely. Cricket is for everyone, and every batch is open to girls and boys.
